Despite ongoing issues and constant shutdowns of live-service games, it appears that WB Games still wants a piece of that pie.
A job listing at WB Games Montreal for an Executive Producer was recently posted (via GameSpot and VGC), explicitly mentioning live-service titles. The role “would oversee post-launch content and live-service strategy,” for example, and also notes that having “deep knowledge of the entire game development lifecycle, including live services” would be beneficial experience.
There are also some mentions of overseeing live game operations processes, so it certainly seems that whatever WB Games Montreal is working on will have some kind of live-service element.
WB Games Montreal’s most recent project was Gotham Knights. However, live-service games at WB Games as a whole haven’t been successful: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and MultiVersus are two examples that failed.
